Michael turns One!

Happy 1st Birthday Michael!! I loved this session and this handsome little charmer!! I had so much fun photographing him and capturing that stage between crawling and walking. I found out a few days after the session that he started walking and running. So fun! Thanks Mom and Dad for having me photograph your sweet family. :)

Photography Workshop in St. Louis

I’m SO excited to announce that I’ll be co-teaching a photography workshop in St. Louis, MO on May 31st! I’ve teamed up with a great friend and amazing pro photographer, Jana Carson. Jana and I have been photographing weddings together for several years and find that we work extremely well together! Jana is based in Norman, OK and has a successful photography business focusing on Seniors and Weddings. Our strengths and creative ideas blend together to create the perfect team for each wedding and session we do together. We both get asked frequently for advice on all aspects of photography or what camera to buy. We both LOVE to share what we’ve learned through the years and are excited to offer this opportunity to you! This workshop is intended for those who have started the photography journey recently or want to begin one. You might be on the brinks of starting a new photography business or maybe you just bought a new camera and want to learn how to take better photos of your kids. Jana and I are BIG advocates of getting your photos correct in-camera first to save you time at the computer later. We both love photography and want to educate those in the beginning stages technically and artistically. Learning correctly at the beginning speeds up the process to finding your style and you’ll feel confident creating artistic images.

We invite you to come hang out with us for a fun filled day of knowledge and hands on experience. We will have a photoshoot set up so you can learn beside us by asking questions and taking photos for your portfolio. After the shoot, we’ll be showing you our secrets to editing in Photoshop and Lightroom. You’ll get to try out these techniques on your own photos from that day’s shoot!

Baby Grayson

Baby Grayson came to the studio at 12 days old. He is such a handsome little guy!! Since Grayson decided to check things out and stay awake for the majority of the session, I got some good shots of his pretty eyes and his amazing neck muscles. Mom was right next to him the whole time for safety but for the record, Grayson takes the Gold metal in neck strength! He was looking around like it was the easiest thing on earth for a baby! A big thanks to Mom for all her help and for bringing me such a beautiful baby boy to photograph.

Miss Kaylie came to the studio to do her 18 month session last month. It’s been such a busy winter!! I am getting ready to post several sessions, so keep checking back! I normally do on location shoots but with this session being in the winter, the studio came in handy! Kaylie was so cute in front of the camera. My favorite image is the second one down. :) Mom brought Kaylie’s favorite book and some outfits she made for her. Photos become even more meaningful when you include special items in your sessions. For those of you who have a session coming up, be thinking about what you can bring as a special prop!

We had a great time and Kaylie couldn’t have been any cuter!

Kate’s 1st Birthday Extravaganza

February turned out to be a party month! Kate celebrated with friends at home in Texas and also in Illinois with family. We’ve been here, there and everywhere! It’s been busy and fun and we’re heading home very soon. I am so excited to share her party with you now that all the festivities are over and I’ve had some time to breathe again. Warning – lots of photos in this post. :)

For Kate’s 1st Birthday, the theme was inspired by “Sugar and Spice and everything nice…that’s what little girls are made of!” I incorporated vintage fabrics with modern fabrics, ribbons, and shades of pink, aqua and white. It was challenging to keep the same elements for each party considering they were in different states. You’ll see a few differences in the IL party photos. The first gallery of images is from the party in Texas.

I made the fabric strip garland, both cakes, the wands, the pink cookies, the invitation, the favors, and the punch. I purchased the fondant #1 and the cake toppers from Parker’s Flour Patch on Etsy. The metal tops for the mason jars and the straws are from The Papered Nest on Etsy. The table shown in the photo was my vanity from childhood. I refinished it white and put new hardware on it. The berry containers that I put the pink cookies in are from Anthropologie.

Kate on her 1st birthday!

Here’s the photos from the IL party at Grandma and Grandpa’s house! Kate had SO much fun! She wasn’t a big fan of cake at either party. She wouldn’t eat it and didn’t really like the feel of it. Ice cream on the other hand…she will eat herself silly! :)

Here’s the birthday girl 50% shy and 50% LOVING all the attention! :) Love her!!!

My sweet baby girl turns one today! We’re having a relaxing day celebrating how special she is to our family! So far she’s had TONS of hugs and kisses, lots of balloons, had her first Starbucks Vanilla Scone (she love it…who doesn’t?!?) and we’re going to get some yummy frozen yogurt after nap time. Miss Kate had a great time at her party in Texas and now she gets to look forward to more fun at the family party this coming Saturday! We love you sweet baby girl! xxoo

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I made some Valentine’s day treat bags AND tags for my son Cole to pass out at school today. I created the Bee specially for his class because their theme this year is the “Busy Bee’s” which also works perfect for Valentine’s day! I couldn’t wait to share them with you! They are on my etsy store to purchase for this year or next. These BEE valentine cards are cute and can be printed on your home printer! Find some matching fabric and rip strips or use ribbon to attach these tags to bags or jars. I found the 12 oz. mason jars at Hobby Lobby and gave those to Cole’s teachers. The kids will get the cookie bags which I found at Michaels. You can find the EASY sugar cookie recipe here. Then add red food coloring to find the perfect shade of red or pink.
