Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I made some Valentine’s day treat bags AND tags for my son Cole to pass out at school today.  I created the Bee specially for his class because their theme this year is the “Busy Bee’s” which also works perfect for Valentine’s day!  I couldn’t wait to share them with you!  They are on my etsy store to purchase for this year or next.  These BEE valentine cards are cute and can be printed on your home printer!  Find some matching fabric and rip strips or use ribbon to attach these tags to bags or jars.  I found the 12 oz. mason jars at Hobby Lobby and gave those to Cole’s teachers.   The kids will get the cookie bags which I found at Michaels.  You can find the EASY sugar cookie recipe here.  Then add red food coloring to find the perfect shade of red or pink.

I hope you and your family have a FUN day full of love.  :)

Happy February!

My sweet baby girl is turning ONE this month.  To prepare for her party and invite, I went ahead and photographed her smash cake photos early.  Kate was quite eventful during this process!  She grabbed the cake, laid on it and also managed to knock it off the cake plate.  Since I made the cake the night before, the buttercream firmed up in the fridge. Apparently that was enough to withstand Miss Kate!  Here’s the two I ended up using for her Invite and Thank You note.  I can’t wait to show you her invite and party photos in a few weeks!

Beau turns ONE!

This handsome blue eyed boy is turning one in a few days.  Beau’s Mommy and I were both pregnant at the same time last year.  I still remember anticipating the (fast) arrival of both our babies around this time last year.  It’s hard to believe that one whole year has past!  Year two is going to be just as amazing.  I love watching them become mobile as they start to walk and hearing their new found words.  I just photographed Beau today and was so excited to get a sneak peak up on the blog.  Beau has some super cool parents….I don’t know many who would bring in SNOW to Texas for Beau’s very own Polar Bear birthday party.  For his photos, we got to use some of this snow!!  Being from the midwest, I had so much fun photographing in the most optimal conditions….the great indoors!  No freezing your pants off, no numb fingers, no blizzard conditions to trek through…seriously the perfect situation!  :)  Here’s a peek at Mr. Blue eyes today….   Happy Birthday sweet Beau!!!  Can’t wait to watch you grow in 2012!

Making Your Own Photo Props – The Honey Bun Pouf

Are you a photo prop junkie like me?  I could waste days away searching for props both vintage and new.  Recently, I’ve become obsessed with fabrics and sewing.   Last year I got the idea to create my own photo props to use in my studio and outdoor sessions.  It’s been so fun and I’m excited to share with you the first prop I made last Summer.  My daughter Kate turned 6 months last Aug. and I really wanted a unique prop for her to sit on and support her so I could get good photos of her face.  When I found this pattern for Amy Butler’s Honey Bun Pouf, I knew it was the perfect prop to make.  Bean bags are great for newborns and supported sitters (5-7 mo. olds).  It helps you, the photographer, to position them comfortably so you can capture them in the happiest mood possible.  :)  I wanted the colors in the photos to match the colors in her nursery so everything would match and pop when I put my finished product up in her room.  Amy Butler had the perfect decorator fabric in the colors I wanted.  You can find them here at TheFabricFarm on Etsy.  This is a great sewing project to start whether you’re a beginner or a pro.  The directions can be a little confusing so I created this tutorial to walk you through it.  All the specific details and steps are found in Amy Butler’s pattern here.  I highly recommend trying this pouf out!  When you’re finished, email me your photos!  I’d love to see your unique pouf!

Newborn Alexis

Sweet Newborn Alexis was the latest little baby to come through and have her photos taken.  I just love photographing newborns and capturing all their tiny features.   Thanks Mom and Dad for having me photograph your sweet baby girl!  Here’s a look at this adorable baby girl…
